FOREPLAY 2010 Kicks Off New Jersey’s LGBT Pride Celebration with a twist!
Asbury Park, NJ - New Jersey’s leather, bear and kink communities are gearing up for FOREPLAY 2010 (www.4playnj.com). The event runs from 12 noon to 6 pm on Saturday June 5, 2010, on Bond Street between Cookman and Lake Avenues, just one block from the Asbury Park Train Station. A kick-off event for New Jersey’s GLBTIQ Pride Weekend, the FOREPLAY block party has become a hot ticket, attracting people from all over the state and the surrounding areas from Boston to DC. Now in its fifth year, the FOREPLAY block party is a “must attend” tradition for many in our community, with attendance doubling each year since the event launched in 2005.

skater boys, steam punks and so many other parts of the
community to come out and enjoy Pride Weekend together.”
Anticipation for this year’s event is already growing, as the block party returns to the heart of Asbury Park’s gay friendly business district and will include some exciting new additions such as giveaways from Harley Davidson of Ocean County and Daddyhunt.com as well as some special surprises.
“Over 600 people attended last year’s block party. We have had to expand to a much larger space this year,” said Tom Savage, FOREPLAY’s Logistics Coordinator. “We choose to stay in the downtown business district again this year, and our new host The Harrison has been great to work with. We believe the change in venue will make Foreplay 2010 a party not to be missed.”
FOREPLAY 2010 will once again feature top-notch live entertainment, a Beer and Cigar Garden, vendors, tarot readers, demos, games, a tattoo contest sponsored by Neptune Tattooville and hundreds of hot men and women. This year we are proud to welcome The Bootblack Brigade as a contributing sponsor. Bootblacks from around the region will be on hand to service the crowd.
FOREPLAY features live performances by some of the Northeast’s most popular LGBT entertainers. DJ Cowboy Cliff’s unique combination of country, dance and pop music keeps the party energized. Performers back this year by popular demand this year will include Virago, (www.ViragoMusic.com) whose edgy rock sound with elements of blues and samba is perfect for the block party atmosphere, Lady Marisa (www.LadyMarisa.com) one of Asbury Park’s favorite drag performers, and the phenomenal White Elephant Burlesque Society, (www.weburlesque.net) whose performance blew away the crowd last year. This year’s line-up will also feature first time performances by Carl Chesna, (www.carlchesna.com) about whom Billboard Magazine says, “Add Chesna's name to the growing list... songwriters snagging attention...” and Jeryl Orsino, (www.jerylmusic.com) who promises to add her own special sound to the day.
“With each year, we’ve been proud to see FOREPLAY grow into something more than we could have imagined five years ago. As more and more individuals, groups, organizations and businesses seek us out to participate in the block party, we’re able to add more things for people to enjoy, and most importantly, celebrate our diversity and individuality as members of NJ’s LGBT community” says Dan Tamez, Foreplay’s Volunteer Coordinator. “We are especially glad to announce that joining Jersey Pride as a beneficiary for the first time, will be The Open Space Project, whose drop in center for young GLBTIQ people in the Asbury Park area has been so desperately needed.
